Our Professional Staff

Michael A. Roman, PhD, LSSP

Dr. Roman is our chief neuropsychologist, licensed specialist in school psychology, and expert in medications and psychopharmacology. He was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. He attended Loyola University, majoring in Psychology, before earning his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at IIT in Chicago. He completed his internship at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison, WI and a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, with a specialization in Pediatric Neuropsychology. He also earned a postdoctoral certification in Psychopharmacology through Texas A&M University.

 

Dr. Roman has lived in San Antonio since 1990, spending his first three years as faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He has been in private practice since 1991.  He is married and has two children.

Dr. Fowler was born and raised in San Antonio. She completed her undergraduate work at The University of Texas at San Antonio, majoring in Psychology. She attended The Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Los Angeles where she earned her Master's and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Her predoctoral internship at Sovereign Health of California provided a wide range of clinical evaluation and treatment experiences with a very challenging population. Dr. Fowler is compassionate and has developed a reputation as a strong advocate for her patients. While she evaluates and treats a variety of conditions, her primary clinical specialties include assessment of child and adult ADHD and treatment of anxiety disorders.

 

Dr. Fowler has practiced psychology since 2009 and has been in private practice since 2014. She is married and is the proud mother of two children.

Jessica R. Fowler, PsyD
Ivette Salinas, PsyD

Dr. Salinas was born and raised in San Antonio. She completed her undergraduate education and her Masters degree in Psychology at St. Mary's University. She obtained her doctoral education in the Counseling Psychology program at Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), a program widely known for its emphasis on Solution Focused Therapy. Her subspecialty centered on the needs of Spanish speaking individuals, including training in cultural diversity topics relevant to the heritage of this often inadequately served San Antonio population. Her internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio provided high quality training and experience in treating a wide range of child, adolescent, and adult mental health issues, including the use of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and trauma processing therapy. She has had multiple years of extensive training and experience in the assessment of children and adults, including neuropsychological assessment, and joins our practice as one of the first of our Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellows.

Dr. Salinas is fluently bilingual in English and Spanish. She has been providing direct services to patients since 2017 and effectively balances being a parent to her son along with her professional duties.

Kathryn Matchett, PsyD

Dr. Matchett was born and raised in a small town outside Boston and has extensive expertise in treating individuals with trauma, including military personnel. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at George Washington University and her internship at the White River Junction Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Dartmouth College Counseling Center. Her postdoctoral fellowship at the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center included a special concentration in women's health. Having spent the last few years raising her children, Dr. Matchett has elected to pursue additional postdoctoral training and joined our practice as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuropsychology. Her experience is wide ranging, with formal training in psychodynamic therapy, cognitive therapy, and DBT. She also performs psychological and cognitive evaluations for all age groups and has a strong background in resolving complex differential diagnostic issues.

 

Dr. Matchett is a military spouse and has worked in the field of psychology since 2004. She has two children.

Nancy Amodei, PhD

Dr. Amodei is our current expert on teletherapy. She was born in Lismore, Australia and speaks Italian and Australian. She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and completed an internship at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Amodei has conducted extensive research into a variety of clinical and healthcare issues and recently retired from her position at the University Health System after 28 years of service. She has started a well-earned sabbatical, returning to the country of her birth to spend time with family; however, she remains actively involved in the practice and continues to provide services to her patients remotely through teletherapy. Her extensive experience in treating children, adolescents, and adults places her among the top psychologists in our community.

Dr. Amodei has lived in San Antonio since 1986. She has been in private practice since 1994.  She is married and has two children.

Rebecca M. Beach, MS, LPC

Rebecca was born and raised in Florida. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Texas at San Antonio majoring in Psychology, then attended Troy University where she earned her Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology. Her treatment experience is wide ranging and includes treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with almost every known diagnostic condition. She is trained, experienced, and highly competent using multiple treatment modalities, including behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral approaches, and mindfulness. Rebecca has specialized experience treating trauma utilizing Cognitive Processing Therapy, addressing chronic pain using ACT, and treating children with play therapy. Her treatment of autism includes the use of discrete trial training, functional communication training, and the use of visual displays. She also has a strong diagnostic background with experience in evaluation to resolve differential diagnostic issues. 

Rebecca has worked in the field of mental health since 2010 and holds licenses in Texas, Alabama, and Florida. She is married and has one child.
