Anxiety and Depression

Symptoms of anxiety and depression are commonly experienced by everyone at least sometimes. For some individuals, these symptoms have more control over their lives than they do. Evaluation can clarify diagnosis, aid treatment planning, and help document whether current treatments are working. We also provide individual treatment to relieve suffering, aid coping, and improve your ability to control your emotions rather than having them control you.

Autism

Children and adults with autism can have symptoms that range from very mild to very severe. Those with high functioning autism often suffer in small ways for many years, with obvious symptoms affecting their daily life only as they begin to enter adulthood. Sometimes, common symptoms of autism are present in people who don't have autism. This can include nonverbal learning disabilities, sensory processing disorders, stereotypic movement disorders, and other conditions. We provide cutting edge, state of the art evaluations for autism and can help sort out the diagnostic complexity to aid treatment planning. We also provide a range of non-ABA treatment options.

Behavior Problems

Many years of research have shown that failing to address behavior problems at an early age leads to continued problems and poor social adjustment later in life. Contrary to common belief, many children do not "outgrow" their behavior problems. We can help provide insight and direction. Our treatment focuses on making parenting more successful, improving behavioral compliance, and enhancing emotional regulation.

Trauma and PTSD

Trauma can occur at any age. Some children and adults are less affected by traumatic events while others prove more vulnerable. Trauma remodels the brain and can cause life-long challenges. There is help. Evidence shows that the effects of trauma can be reduced and sometimes even eliminated. Trauma is very personal and stories about trauma are difficult to share, yet proper diagnosis can prove essential in guiding treatment. We can provide confidential and supportive evaluation and treatment services to help define a path toward help and hope. We can't change the past, but we can change the ways it affects us in the present.

Intellectual Disability

Most individuals with intellectual disabilities do not look or act differently than their peers. There is usually no physical characteristic that tells us, "It may not look like it, but I'm trying as hard as I can." Many people with mild ID go undiagnosed despite routinely struggling with life. Early identification of individuals with intellectual disabilities is essential to maximize independence and aid transition into adulthood. By high school, and certainly once an individual achieves adulthood, evaluation is important to guide treatments to enhance independence. We can help with early diagnosis and treatment planning.
